[Between the Stitches] Shawl secrets, yarn crushes, a hidden treasure hunt, and something new coming soon

Hey Reader, it's Jessica!

It finally feels like October here ... those first cool, crisp mornings that make me reach for a favorite shawl and a second cup of coffee. The air has that almost autumn scent, and I’m just waiting for the trees to start showing off their colors.

As we settle into this cozier season, I’m trying something new: a short and sweet newsletter, landing in your inbox 1–2 times a month. You’ll get a peek behind the scenes, a few of my favorite things, and inspiration from my needles (and maybe yours, too).

This is a little experiment to find a rhythm that feels just right for all of us, and I’d love to hear what you think. Just hit reply and let me know!

Of course, I’ll still send separate updates in real time when exciting things happen ... like new pattern drops, upcoming workshops, or the next Knit Happy Summit. (You can join the waitlist here for a little surprise when registration opens 😉).

This one’s a quick 5-minute read filled with inspiration for your needles! So grab your favorite mug, cozy up with your current WIP, and let’s catch up Between the Stitches.

📸 Pattern Spotlight

While enjoying my morning coffee, I was scrolling through your beautiful projects on Ravelry, and mpshepard's Efflorescence Cowl caught my eye!

They said "The pattern was delightful - as another Raveler mentioned, thorough, detailed, and easy to memorize each round. That said, I was really happy when I finished the last round of “special stitches” - just a little intense! Very pleased with the finished project!"

As a special treat, and a thank you for joining me for this little newsletter experiment, use code BETWEENTHESTITCHES1010 on Ravelry when you grab my Efflorescence Cowl pattern this week!

🧶 Yarn Crush

My next sock pattern is officially with my test knitters, and I can't wait to share it with you really soon. The Luckiest Socks are knit using DK weight yarn, from the toe-up, with a heel flap and gusset.

I used Bad Sheep Yarn DK in Sea Glass, and I have fallen in LOVE with this yarn! 😍 The blend of soft Superwash Merino with a touch of Nylon made it an easy yes for this design. Here are some details so you can get your yarn ready:

  • Finished Sock Circumference:
    6.25 (7, 8.25) [9.25, 10.25]” or 15.5 (17.5, 21) [23, 25.5] cm
  • Approximate Yarn Amounts:
    221 (243, 292) [328, 363] yards or 202 (223, 267) [300, 332] meters
