Hey Reader, it's Jessica!
Summer has almost arrived, and it’s the perfect time to take your knitting needles on an adventure! ☀️
Whether you're packing your bags for a getaway, enjoying a quiet morning on the porch, or heading to your local park for World Wide Knit in Public Day (next Saturday), your knitting can come along for the ride.
Here are a few ways to make the most of your summer stitching:
🧳 Portable Projects: My patterns on Ravelry include lots of quick-knit shawls, lightweight cowls, and smaller skill-building projects that are perfect for travel or tucking into a beach bag. They're satisfying, and easy to pick up whenever you find a quiet moment.
• Alim Shawlette and Generations Shawl are lightweight, lacy beauties that use just 1 skein of fingering-weight yarn, perfect for those special skeins you've been saving forever!
• Bloom Hat and Together Apart Hat will help make good use of those DK weight scraps in your stash.
🌿 Warm-Weather Yarns: Summer is ideal for exploring cotton, linen, and bamboo blends. The Boho Waves Wall Hanging is a quick project using one of my favorite yarns, Universal Yarns Bamboo Pop! Linen and Lemonade is a lovely combination of cables and lace, designed using Juniper Moon Farm's Zooey, a cotton and linen blend.
🤿 Dive into a New Skill! When it's too hot to be outside, keep your hands and your mind busy learning something new with The Beginner's Guide to Lace Knitting, Double Dare: The Double Knitting Challenge,Double Dare: Double Knitting Challenge or any of my workshops.
🌞 Let Nature be Your Knitting Muse: Take a stroll with your project and let nature guide your stitches. Whether it’s the texture of tree bark, the shape of feathers, or the colors of a summer sunset, you’ll find inspiration all around. Check out Flowers in the Field Shawlette, Seaview Shawl, and Call of the Gulls Hat for some inspiration.
Wherever your summer takes you, I’d love to see what you’re working on! Share your photos on social media with #DoubleTheStitches and #SummerKnittingAdventures and tag me so I can cheer you on.
Wishing you peaceful stitches and sunny rows,
P.S. - I've been hard at work on a brand new workshop, and I can't wait to tell you all about it. Keep an eye on your inbox ... details are coming sooner than you can say supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! 👀
