Hey Reader, it's Jessica!
The Summer of Skills Challenge starts on Monday, and things are really heating up inside the Stitch Society! π
Members have been picking their first projects and planning their yarn - I can already feel the buzz, and I'd love for you to be part of it!
All you need is one bucket-list skill or technique you've been dreaming of conquering.
You'll start by picking the first technique you want to learn (more details below!), watch a step-by-step workshop from our library, cast on a small project, and share your progress with our warm, supportive community.
At the end, every challenger who shares a photo of their finished project is entered to win prizes!

Here are all the workshops included in the Summer of Skills Challenge:
β
π Colorwork
For the knitter who's been staring at gorgeous colorful knitting projects, wondering "could I actually do that?"
Choose from these workshops:
Fair Isle Fundamentals: Learn to carry two colors across your work and create those gorgeous stranded patterns you've admired. You'll finish with a sweet colorwork project and the confidence to tackle any two-color pattern. Plus, you'll learn steeking and picking up stitches for a button band!
aMAZEing Mosaic Knitting Challenge: Mosaic is the magic trick of colorwork - one color at a time, but the result looks like you were juggling both. Perfect if stranded feels intimidating, but you still want that colorwork look!
Double Dare: Double Knitting: Two layers of fabric, two colors, one needle. It sounds wild, but it's more logical than it looks. You'll end up with a reversible project and a very impressive new skill.
πͺ’ Texture
For the knitter who wants to add gorgeous dimension to their projects but isn't sure where to start.
Choose from these workshops:
Beginner's Guide to Lace Knitting: Lace is just yarn overs and decreases - that's it! This workshop breaks it all the way down so you can finally make those delicate, airy patterns you've had pinned forever.
Conquer Cable Knitting: Cables are one of those techniques that look WAY harder than they actually are. Once you understand what's really happening, you'll want to put cables on everything.
A Taste of Brioche Knitting: Squishy, stretchy, and completely addictive. Brioche has its own little language, and this workshop is your translator. Fair warning: you will want to brioche all the things.
𧦠Socks
For the knitter who's been saying "I want to try socks!" for way too long. This is your sign to cast on and finally start! These tiny socks are created using worsted-weight yarn scraps and US 6 needles, so they're not-so-scary.
Choose from these workshops:
Tiny Treasures: From the Toe Up: Start at the toe and work your way up! These mini socks are the cutest way to try sock knitting without committing to a full-size project.
Tiny Treasures: From the Cuff Down: The classic way to knit a sock, starting at the cuff and working down. If you've always wanted to try the traditional method, this is your moment.
β
Each workshop walks you through the technique step by step, and the projects are small enough to finish in 4 weeks ... even with a busy summer schedule!
I'm Hosting a Kick Off Party on Zoom! π₯³
On Monday, June 22, at 11 AM ET, we'll celebrate the start of the challenge together. I'll walk you through all the workshops so you feel confident choosing your first project, and you'll get to meet the knitters who are tackling the same techniques as you. Your yarnie people are waiting! π
A replay will be available, too, if you can't make it live.
